Christ Cove is a 300 acre retreat center in the Southern Appalachian Mountains in the northwest corner of Alabama. Its primary purpose is to provide church leaders an opportunity for r enewal and communing with nature in one of the southernmost coves of the Appalachian chain.
The slopes of the forested cove rise almost 1000 vertical feet from a 50 acre grassy field. Set against a backdrop of large hardwood trees is a 4,000 square foot lodge. The lodge has been renovated with six tiled bathrooms, five bedrooms and a loft. The log appearance of the lodge harkens back to the early pioneers that settled the region.
An authentic 1890’s barn, on its original site, serves to store the farm equipment. In 2006 an antebellum log cabin was relocated into the woods of the retreat to serve as a natural meditation center. Another 1800’s log building is being relocated onto the property to serve as a chapel.
Miles of hiking trails course through the property, crossing at least ten seasonal creeks. Waterfalls tumble down the limestone cliffs. Early Native American artifacts have been found on the property.
The ninety foot long front porch of the lodge serves as the primary viewing area for the wildlife that inhabits the property. Flocks of wild turkey, deer families, and a multitude of bird species provide a constant connection with the natural life with which we share the property.
Our cabin accommodates 12 or less.. Our lodge will no longer be available for reserving. Our chapel will be complete and our prayer cabin is also still available. Thank you for your patience in this. May God bless you richly. |
